The Rocket went down on one knee after picking up the rather different rock from Harrods
SNOOKER star Ronnie O’Sullivan is engaged after popping the question to beautiful actress Laila Rouass.
Ronnie, nicknamed The Rocket, went down on one knee to the former Holby City star with a £55,000 diamond rock from Harrods.
The couple, who celebrated last week with a romantic dinner at a restaurant in London’s West End, are now busy making plans for the future.
They have already bought their lovenest... a £2million, six-bedroom mansion in Ronnie’s native Essex.
Their engagement comes after a difficult 12 months for the reigning four-times World Snooker Champion which saw him quit the sport. Ex-Footballers Wives star Laila, who came fourth in Strictly Come Dancing in 2009, has been helping to keep his spirits up.
And she’s clearly been doing a good job as he looked relaxed and happy during their celebration meal at Chinese restaurant Hakkasan on Wednesday.
Mum-of-one Laila, 41, twice voted among the world’s 100 sexiest women by readers of FHM magazine, looked glamorous in a plunging black dress with gold stilettos.
Ronnie, 37, was casually dressed in jeans and a hoodie, breaking the restaurant’s dress code of shirts for men.
A source said: “Ronnie spent the night leaning over the table gazing at Laila. They were very relaxed with each other and he couldn’t take his eyes off her. She has been brilliant at helping him with his stress and depression.”
Ronnie split from Jo Langley, 41, the mother of his two children, in 2008.
Three months ago, his manager Django Fung confirmed the champion was in a self-imposed exile from snooker due to health and personal problems, saying: “He’s had glandular fever which has been dragging on for some time.
“We all have personal problems and some can handle them better than others.
“When he has these personal problems, Ronnie finds it difficult to concentrate on snooker.”
Divorcee Laila split from business tycoon Nasir Khan, who was jailed for nine years over a £250million VAT fraud, in 2007. He is the father of her five-year-old daughter.
